PBP General Show Rules

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERY MEMBER TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE SHOW AND CLASS RULES. SHOW DATES AND CLASSES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. PLEASE CHECK WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK OFTEN. www.palmbeachposse.org

UNDER FLORIDA LAW, AN EQUINE ACTIVITY SPONSOR, OR EQUINE PROFESSIONAL, IS NOT LIABLE FOR AN INJURY, OR THE DEATH OF, A PARTICIPANT IN EQUINE ACTIVITIES RESULTING FROM THE INHERENT RISKS OF EQUINE ACTIVITIES. Senate Bill 1658, Sec 91.1A.

ALL RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND THEIR SHOW COMMITTEE MEMBERS

  1. RIDERS, OWNERS, TRAINERS MUST BE MEMBERS OF PBP. Riders 18 and under need the signature of a parent or guardian. NOTE: TRAINERS MAY NOT SIGN FOR PARENTS OF EXHIBITORS UNDER 18 UNLESS THEY ARE A NOTARIZED GUARDIAN, AND A COPY OF SUCH NOTARIZATION IS ATTACHED. Membership runs September 1, 2025 – August 31, 2026.
  2. Rider’s age to be determined from September 1, 2025.
  3. CURRENT NEGATIVE COGGINS must be provided at FIRST show YOU ATTEND and new coggins provided if renewed during show year. Horse’s name must remain the same for the show year.
  4. ANIMAL WELFARE: Concerns for animal welfare and the objective of Palm Beach Posse is to promote quality animal husbandry; horses, ponies and/or mules shall not be shown with a body condition score of less than 4 based on the Henneke scale (ribs easily discernible, tops of spinous process easily discernible, tailhead prominent with hook bones easily discernible, withers accentuated, and neck obviously thin). Horses that are deemed to be less than a condition score of 4 by minimum of 4 board members present at show or Judge will be excused from the show. Class fees ONLY will be credited.
  5. A Show Director, Board Member or Judge may disqualify any horse or rider for lameness, safety or cruelty reasons. NO FEES WILL BE REFUNDED.
  6. Classes must be entered through the online platform www.horsespot.net. Entries must be received by the Thursday night prior to the show. If you do not have access to the online platform for entries, please contact us at info@palmbeachposse.org.
  7. REFUNDS will not be granted unless the classes are canceled by Show Management. Admin, stall and shaving fees will not be refunded. The Board reserves the right to cancel classes or change the schedule within the circuit year.
  8. NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS FOR MISSED CLASSES.
  9. All shaving orders & stall reservations must be entered through the google form posted on the website or Facebook page by Wednesday prior to the show weekend.
  10. Members may come in and set up stalls from 12:00 -3:00 on Friday before the Show. NO HORSES are allowed on the grounds on Friday
  11. Entries may be paid with cash, Zelle, check, or credit card. Credit card payments will be subject to a processing fee. Show bills are final 24 hours after the show closes, any open invoices will be closed by the office staff at the end of the show with the method of payment holding the entry. It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to review their bill and resolve any discrepancies within 24 hours of the show ending. If disputes are not resolved within this time frame, the bill will stand as is without any further review. e office and online system does not save credit card information when a new card is presented when closing out the show bill.
  12. There is a $35 fee for NSF checks or declined credit cards. Second NSF check or declined credit card charge will result in future payments accepted by cash or Zelle only.
  13. Discourtesy and/or unsportsmanlike conduct towards a Judge, Show Official, Staff, Rider or Trainer on the part of any Rider, Trainer, groom, owner or guest at any PBP sponsored event will immediately disqualify any and all horses associated with said party. All entry fees forfeited. Suspension and/or membership revocation may also result from these actions.
  14. Show Attire: See individual show rules.
  15. Jackets may be waived by show management.
  16. Those leading Lead Line or W-Off Lead riders must be 16 & over.
  17. Classes combined or deleted at the discretion of the show committee. Classes will be split with 12 or more riders. Classes may be split to prevent ring conflicts (H/J Show & Pleasure Shows.)
  18. Classes must be added with the office or announcer before the Exhibitor enters the ring. It is the rider’s responsibility to be at the designated ring at the time of showing. Rings will not be held for missing riders
  19. RING CONFLICTS: Trainers must work with the in-gate staff to avoid any delay of classes due to conflicts. Failure to communicate conflicts to the ring staff will result in the class being run without the trainer. Novice ring ring will be held for the trainer for ALL classes. Main ring will be held for over fences classes only.and Pleasure
  20. EXHIBITORS MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER TO HANDLE A STALLION OF ANY AGE OR SIZE ON THE GROUNDS. Owners of stallions must maintain their animal in a manner that is safe to spectators and exhibitors. ALL HORSES must be under control at all times.
  21. Horses must be ridden only in designated practice rings. WALK ONLY throughout the park, to and from rings and in the barn area. Racing along driveways, sidewalks, among trailers or spectators IS PROHIBITED. DO NOT ENTER barns on horseback. Horses must be securely tethered at all times in proper places. NO HORSES ALLOWED at the announcer’s booth, concession stand, picnic area, tied to trees, ring fences or roped off areas. No riding double, bareback or in halter; only exception is an official bareback class. Use of cell phones or iPod while on horseback, schooling or riding in the ring is PROHIBITED!
  22. Horses in stalls must have shavings (minimum 1 bag of shavings for day stalls, minimum 2 bags of shavings for overnight) and 1 bucket of water available. Horses shall not remain tied overnight. Horses found in stalls not paid for or assigned will be assessed a $25 stall fee along with the $55 stall fee.
  23. ALL JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
  24. DAILY AWARDS: 1st through 6th place ribbons. For classes with 3 or more participants, 1st place will receive an award of a trophy or a ticket redeemable for a gift certificate in the show office. Lead line and off-lead classes ONLY: if less than 3 riders in the class, 1st place may receive a trophy per horse/rider combination for the day. Daily Division Grand & Reserve Ribbons in Pleasure Halter and Hunter Rings, please refer to specific show rules for division eligibility. Computing Points, places will count as follows:
    • 1st place – 6 Points
    • 2nd place – 5 Points
    • 3rd place – 4 Points
    • 4th place – 3 Points
    • 5th place – 2 Points
    • 6th place – 1 Points
  25. PRIZE MONEY: prize money will be presented during an awards ceremony after the Specialty class. Jackpot Prize money will be paid in cash by the end of show.
  26. YEAR END POINTS: Points are rider responsibility. September-December point disputes will end two weeks following the December show. February-June point disputes will end two weeks following the last show. Must show and be judged in 1 more than half of the scheduled shows to be eligible for Year End Awards. Palm Beach Posse Board reserves the right to adjust the number of required shows for Year End Awards for any class at any time.
  27. NO UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS in announcer’s booth, ring, gates or holding areas. Holding areas may have one (1) trainer, parent, and/or helper per rider. DO NOT DISTURB ANNOUNCERS WITH QUESTIONS UNLESS DURING A DRAG, RING CHANGEOVER OR ON A BREAK.
  28. JIM BRANDON EQUESTRIAN CENTER REQUIRES NIGHT WATCH FOR OVERNIGHT STAYS AT THE BARNS. Night watch fees will be paid directly to the night watch personnel via check, cash, Venmo or Zelle. Night watch fees not paid will result in a $25 fee.
  29. Golf cart operators must have a VALID Driver’s license. No more than the designated number of passengers allowed on carts. Violators will receive one warning then loss of Golf Cart rights for Season.
  30. COMPLAINTS regarding enforcement of rules must be submitted in writing to a Show Director with a $50 deposit. The Show Committee will meet within 48 hours to discuss the complaint. If the complaint is found valid, the $50 deposit will be refunded. If the complaint is found to be invalid, the money will be retained. The written statement must include when and where the incident occurred and any possible witnesses.
  31. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR DRUGS OF ANY KIND will be allowed on the show grounds at any time. Offenders will be asked to leave and riding FEES WILL BE FORFEITED.
  32. DOGS MUST BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES. Please keep dogs away from rings. NO dogs in stalls.
  33. Horses may not remain on the facility showgrounds unattended. Property shall be vacated within 2 hours of horse show conclusion. Failure to do so will result in a $100 fee.
  34. Palm Beach Posse its agents, employees, or officials will not be held responsible for any accident, loss, injury, or damage which may occur to or be suffered by an exhibitor, trainer, owner, groom, spectator, or attendant, nor to animals or equipment at the show, nor will they be held responsible for any lost, stolen or destroyed articles, whether or not such damage, injury or loss, is a result of negligence on the part of the Palm Beach Posse, its agents, employees or officials
  35. PBP, INC. RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DECLINE ANY MEMBERSHIP, ENTRY FEE OR RETAIN SAID FEES WITHOUT BEING HELD LIABLE.
